ALWAYS!!

• The Doctors at Shiphay Manor and Abbey Road Surgeries are on call weekdays from 8am to 6pm (except on Wednesday when they are on call from 8am to 1pm, with emergency cover from a neighbouring surgery until 6pm).
  
  
• At all other times, including bank holidays, the practice is part of BAYDOC, a co-operative of local GP's who provide care throughout the Bay area. BAYDOC operates an emergency surgery in Torquay, as well as visiting patients too sick to travel.
  
  
• During the day, if you need urgent medical advice or treatment please contact the surgery, when your details will be taken by a trained receptionist. She will then pass on your details to the emergency doctor who will either contact you by phone or arrange to visit as soon as possible. After hours there will be a recorded message with the telephone number of BAYDOC.
  

• The Doctor may be able to advise you on the telephone, or arrange an urgent consultation with you in the surgery. When you are bed bound by your illness, the doctor will arrange to visit you at home.

NHS Direct may be able to provide you with telephone advice, and is also available online. However, we are still assessing the value of this service.
